Challenge
An Australia Post parcel facility receiving bulk PP mail bags from international deliveries to the site was experiencing rising costs of waste disposal and loss of efficiency in managing high volumes of this waste type at a busy facility.
The challenging factor was finding the right solution for effectively handling and baling their bulky waste material to increase their sustainability.
Solution
The Waste Initiatives team were engaged in recommending a solution to alleviate these challenges. After a consultation and design review, a high-force closed-door HX800 baler was recommended with a purpose-designed pre-crush ram that pushes the material down into the chamber to avoid jamming.
The processed bales are being sent to recycling facilities to avoid going to landfill.
The operators now experience efficient processing of their bulk bags and a dramatic reduction in waste transfers off the site – improving site safety and reducing costs.
